Society for Himalayan Action Research and Development comes into force on August 1st 2005 subjected to its registration as an NGO at proper forum (Registration NO. 762/2006-2007 dt. 17.11.2005)
“To encourage research activities and promote eco-friendly developmental activities in mountain region”
“To provide scientific platform for discussion and publication of research findings to all researchers who are working in the field of Science, Social sciences, literature and humanities, especially in mountain region”
The society is formed with the following objectives in mind to promote the research activities in the field of biology, physical and natural sciences, history, culture, literature, basic humanities, economic and political scenario of the mountain region.
To provide a scientific platform to all researchers who are working for the sciences, social sciences and humanities.
To organize conferences on various topics to discuss the recent research conducted on the Himalayan aspects and how this research can be utilized for the benefits of society.
The society proposes to make a campaign towards conservation of nature and natural resources (water, fish, wildlife, medicinal plant, waste land development, etc.,) legal literacy, ecological awareness and culture heritage
The society proposes to involve the urban and rural folk with its activities so that the benefits of research may go to the society.
The scientific advice and assistance will be provided to the rural community to promote their small scale, economic development and self employment generation programs.
Journals of Mountain Research (J. Mountain Res.) which covers researches in the field of physical and natural sciences
Himalayan Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (Himalayan J. Soc. Sci. Humanities) which include researches in the field of Social Sciences, Humanities and culture heritage
